McHugos x Kenyak, Malt Pie Chocolate Box
Doc.Choc here. Three words, MCHUGOS MALT PIE.
This is not a drill. We really have put the Tom McHugo’s malt pie inside a chocolate. It really does taste (almost) like the original. It really is limited edition.
Slip slop slap slide a box into your cart if you know what’s good for you - we might do it again, we might never do it again. We sure did have fun doing it though.
Okay, that’s all. Much love, xx.
What's all this about?
Not so long ago, Tom Westcott and Whitney Ball ran a very nice pub in Hobart - Tom McHugo’s. On the menu sat what I think was one of the very best desserts in Australia - a Brewers Malt Pie. Seemingly simple, yet indescribably rounded and deep in flavour, it met you humbly and blew your socks off every time.
We farewelled the pub last year - the landlord wanted it back.. but we longed for the pie.
Tom teased us well, it popped up here and there - yet, somehow my bribes of chocolate never surmounted to a pie, or the recipe? I persisted, easily - given that I get the pleasure of working with Whitney here and there. I teased the thought of sliding the pie inside a chocolate.
The thought stuck.
So here we have it, the Brewers Malt Pie, inside a chocolate.
What’s Inside?
11 Chocolates featuring a dark, lush caramel made with copious amounts of Tom’s very own Brewers Malt Extract, and a crunchy pie base, made by processing the malted grains into just that. Shelled in milk chocolate. Made by hand by Tom & Chris.
Tasting Notes
Delightfully indulgent. Robust, buttery, and of course - malty.
